Hospitals in West Herts including St Albans City are confident they can continue to run the majority of their services tomorrow (Tuesday) if the strike by junior doctors goes ahead.

But the West Herts Hospitals Trust, which also runs Watford General and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals, has warned patients that their care and treatment may take longer than usual in wake of the expected walkout by junior doctors in a dispute over working hours and pay.

Some planned surgeries and appointments have had to be cancelled on safety grounds and patients have been asked to wait for the hospitals to get in touch with regards to re-arranging appointments.

The trust’s website will be updated throughout the day.
