A St Albans licensee has been presented with a Pubwatch award after 15 years of leading the St Albans branch.

Paul Egerton of The Jolly Sailor on Stonecross was presented with a National Pubwatch Star Award by the chief constable of Herts Police, Charlie Hall, at a meeting at The Horn pub.

Chief Con Hall said: “I was delighted to present Paul Egerton with an award for his sterling efforts over many years in being instrumental in developing a thriving Pubwatch in St Albans.

“Creating safer drinking environments in licensed premises is an aim we should all share. It’s good for customers, good for the local community, good for the police and must also be good for business.

“St Albans is benefiting significantly from Paul’s work and the partnerships forged between licensed premises in improving safety to everyone’s advantage. Keep up the good work!”
