Boxing legend John Conteh was guest of honour at the recent sell-out St Columba’s College Sportsman’s Dinner.
The former Light Heavyweight Champion of the World proved to be a very witty and enthusiastic speaker as he joked about his tough upbringing and his route into boxing, the epic fights he had during his career and the huge change this had on his life.
The dinner, which was held at the Watford Hilton, was supported by 200 guests including parents, former students and staff of St Columba’s College.
An auction of sports memorabilia and other sporting items raised over £8,000, which will go towards re-furbishing the cricket nets at the school.
