A JCB went up in flames on a busy Shenley road this morning after a fire started in the engine compartment.
Firefighters were called to Black Lion Hill at around 8am to extinguish the blaze, which was giving off plumes of thick black smoke.
Police closed one lane of the road before reopening it just before 9am.
The fire is being treated as accidental.
