Dogs were treated to the lap of luxury recently at a festive charity fundraiser exclusively for canines held at a city centre pub.

Over 20 pups and pooches were treated to platters of canapés and given the chance to have their photo taken with a furry-faced Father Christmas at the “Santa Paws” event at the Boot, alongside his elf helper.

Sean Hughes, whose family have run the pub for the past nine years, said there was a great community spirit and many four-legged animals made friends with each other, including the oldest pet there, 12-year-old Sparkles.

He added: “I was slightly nervous at first but once the first dog had its photo successfully captured I started to relax, but it was a pretty crazy evening of fun!

“We are collecting money for Macmillan all over the Christmas Period so are pleased our first big event went off well!”
