AN arson attack was responsible for the blaze which tore through a former hospital building on Monday afternoon, the fire service have confirmed this morning.

The fire in a derelict building in Shenley Lane, Napsbury Park, came just over two weeks after another suspected arson attack.

Four crews of firefighters spent more than two hours battling the flames engulfing the three-storey building, which had been undergoing refurbishment work.

A joint investigation between fire and police officers took place yesterday and established that the fire was started deliberately by setting alight a temporary covering on the roof.

Investigations have now been handed to Herts Police.
