FLAMES tore through the roof of a derelict building yesterday afternoon – more than two weeks after it was set on fire by arsonists.
Firefighters arrived at the scene in Shenley Lane, Napsbury Park, at around 4.30pm to find the roof of the former three-storey hospital building, which was undergoing a refurbishment, well alight.
Four crews of firefighters battled the flames using water hoses and ladders, and the blaze was all out just before 7pm.
A joint investigation between police and the fire service is underway this morning to establish the cause of the fire.
The building, thought to be around 30 metres by 50 metres in size, was set on fire deliberately in the early hours of Thursday, July 29, when two large wooden gazebos were also destroyed by fire around the estate.
