A SEVERELY disabled young woman died because she was unable to care for herself after her devoted mother died in bed, an inquest heard today.

Stefania Wolf, 67, is believed to have died of natural causes which then left her 29-year-old daughter Samantha Backler unable to look after herself. Their decomposed bodies were found in their Wheathampstead home in Marford Road by police on July 31st last year after a leaflet distributor raised the alarm.

Speaking after the verdicts were given, Stefania’s daughter Karina Jones said she felt she now had some closure and understanding of what had happened to her mum and sister.

There was no evidence of any third-part involvement in the deaths and excerpts from Stefania’s diary, written in her native Polish, revealed she had been feeling quite ill for some days before her and Samantha were last seen.
