A Harpenden theatre group is putting on a show to raise money for Cancer Research.
The Hurst Children's Theatre Group is performing a variety concert entitled The Beat Goes On.
Professional performers and the children from the theatre group will be appearing in the show at Harpenden Public Halls on April,27 at 7pm.
The Big Gospel choir, who have performed on Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor, will also be appearing, as well as opera singer Jacqueline Varsay and many other acts.
Organiser Jonas Hurst said: “My decision to put on a concert really stems from my grandmother. She started The Hurst Children's Theatre Group in London many years ago. She was always raising money for Cancer Research and then died of it, whilst still fairly young. She is a huge part of why I do, what I do.
“As is my father, Mike Hurst, who is performing in the concert. He's had a huge number of hit records and he's still performing, despite having spent the last few months being treated for cancer, which is one of the main reasons I decided to organise this concert.
“The Hurst Children's Theatre Group has always been a family-run thing, for families. We hope the concert will be an evening of utter joy that anyone and everyone would enjoy.”
Cally Cardines, Cancer Research UK's fundraising manager for Hertfordshire said: “The Hurst Children's Theatre Group is an absolute inspiration and we can't thank them enough for their commitment to help beat cancer. It's going to be a fantastic evening.
“One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives, but the good news is more people are surviving the disease now than ever before. Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK's work has been at the heart of that progress.
“However, we have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and generosity of volunteers and supporters like The Hurst Children's Theatre Group without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”
