Festival go-ers enjoyed a summer night of live music, friends, and food at a start-up St Albans event.
Stockwood Festival was set up in 2014 as a private party, but due to popular demand it was opened to the community in 2016.
In the two years since then attendance has soared and this year nearly 300 people gathered on House Lane at Woodstock.
Everyone enjoyed a licensed bar, barbecue, camp fire, and a range of performances from acts and DJs such as The New Ambassadors, The Natalies, Michael Kendrick, and Dizzee Lights.
It was founded by Oli Bates, George Bates, and Michael Foley, who all grew up in St Albans.
Oli said: “We reckon it will make a proper take off. We have had some really good reviews and comments. Seems like everyone had a really fun night.”
George added: “The event was a great success this year, with all ages from 13 to 90 coming down to enjoy local bands, DJs and chilling out round the fire.
“Being just a small festival it was fantastic to see so many local faces, and hearing so much fantastic feedback, with most commenting on the relaxed atmosphere.
“We now can’t wait to see everyone next year and are considering adding day-time activities so families with young children don’t miss out on the fun.”
George thanked local businesses, friends, and family for their support - including Wheathampstead business Farr Brew and the Alban Arena.
One reviewer was Sianne Louise. She said: “Such a good night, such a brilliant atmosphere, and so, so cheap!
“You can really tell how much effort went into this festival and it really did pay off! I’ll 100 per cent be going every year from now on! 10/10 would recommend.”
Maria Mckenna said: “I thought it was going to be a band playing in a field but it was so much more! Loved the fire pit, the friendly atmosphere, the range of ages, the lights (more lights would be good!) and of course the fabulous local bands who played all the right music to get the tent dancing!”
She described it as “professionally organised”, adding: “Beats Glastonbury any day.”
