A St Albans cricket club will walk 60 miles of the Dorset coast to raise money for a much-missed Garden Fields schoolgirl.
Maisie Ryan was six when her parents took the difficult decision to switch off her life support machine after she contracted a deadly infection.
Her mum, Alex Frame, said both her and her husband Ben Ryan were “devastated” after Maisie died in September last year from acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Alex said: “Maisie was a good girl, with a wicked sense of humour.”
Members of the Garden Fields cricket club have now decided to walk 60 miles from Weymouth to Exmouth in June to support Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Maisie spent her final few days.
Club member Nizam Memon wrote on their Just Giving page: “When we heard of the tragic loss of little Maisie aged just six, it struck a chord.
“Most of us have children still at the school and we felt the need to do something.”
