St Albans council has revealed details of its plans for housing on the Sopwell Youth Club and Noke Shot garage sites.
Documents prepared for a cabinet meeting on Thursday, July 19 show proposals for eight three-bedroom homes on the part of the former Sopwell Youth Club site the council own and a further ten homes on the part of the Leyland Avenue site Network Rail own. These would be a mix of affordable homes and homes sold for market rate.
The council also wants to build three four-bedroom homes for private sale on the site of the Noke Shot garages, which have now been demolished.
The aim, according to the documents, is to regenerate the two run-down and unsightly areas.
The Sopwell Youth Club closed several years ago and the weights club which uses the building has been relocated so the building can be demolished if the council’s plans go ahead.
