A St Albans photographer has been honoured for his work photo-documenting education projects in Ghana and Uganda.
International children’s charity Hope for Children, which is based in Hemel Hempstead, awarded photographer Adam Dickens for his involvement in their Head Held High appeal.
Adam received the Empowering Hope Award 2017 for his partnership with the charity, for which he crowdfunded more than £16,000 to visit the charities’ Ghanaian and Ugandan projects, as well as projects for other charities around the world.
His photos show nine children who have been given access to education through the charity.
Adam said: “It was an honour to receive the award. What’s an even greater honour is knowing that I have played a part in helping them to make the Head Held High appeal a success and raise awareness of this fantastic cause. This is only possible thanks to the generosity of everyone who supported my crowdfunder at the start of the year.”
