A HOLIDAYING family had their house ransacked by thieves who caused serious damage to every room when they broke in at the weekend.

Between last Friday and Saturday, the thieves are believed to have climbed over neighbours' fences to get into the unoccupied house in Temple View, St Albans.

They are thought to have forced a rear window and once inside, they poured bleach around the house and emptied all the cupboards and freezer of food, leaving it all on the kitchen floor.

They ransacked the children's room and emptied paint, food and cleaning products over clothing and bedding in both bedrooms.

In the living room, the sofas were ripped open and damage caused to pictures on the wall. But the only thing which was stolen was a 32in LG TV.

Pc Sue Loughran said: "This was an absolutely disgusting act of vandalism on a family's home which has left it uninhabitable. The criminals who have done this have even been so callous as to target the children's bedrooms."

She urged anyone who might have seen or heard anything or seen the thieves go through neighbouring gardens to contact her on 01707 806476 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
