When grass in the iconic park becomes parched the layout of Roman Verulamium is exposed across the dried ground.

Commercial drone pilot Robin Hamman has captured the images over the past two weeks throughout the summer heatwave.

He said: “I can see Roman foundations in Verulamium Park, as well as near the Abbey and over Gorhambury Estate, whenever there is extreme weather.

“When it snows, the land over foundations melts at a different rate, just as during summer droughts, the grass dries out differently. I’ve been looking at Roman foundations from above for at least three years.
