A housing association has appointed a new outreach worker to help street drinkers get the help they need.
Hightown Housing Association received funding from St Albans district council to appoint street drinker outreach worker Laura Douglas.
Laura has taken the post as part of a one-year pilot project, working alongside Hightown’s St Albans Street Drinker Intervention Service.
As part of her role, Laura will identify and work with street drinkers in St Albans and signposting them to support services, drug and alcohol treatment programmes, accommodation and employment.
Dave Black, director of care and support at Hightonw Housing, said: “We are hugely grateful to St Albans City and District Council for its support in helping us appoint Laura. This is an invaluable role that will help us to support some of St Albans’ most vulnerable people.”
