A 16-year-old girl waiting outside a hairdressers in Harpenden was grabbed by a man who tried to talk to her and then drove off.
The girl was stood outside Browns hairdressers in the High Street when she was approached by the man.
He tried to make conversation with her before grabbing her by the wrist, though she managed to get away.
He then drove off in a dark blue or black BMW.
He is described as mixed race, in his early to mid-20s, 6ft tall and of a medium build.
He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a dark-coloured jacket and either had his hood up or was wearing a beanie hat.
Herts Police are appealing for information after the assault which took place on Wednesday, March 4 at around 8.50pm.
DC Paul Cullinan, investigating, said: “Understandably the girl has been left shaken by what happened but thankfully she was not injured.
“I appreciate that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community and I would like to reassure you we believe that this was an isolated incident.”
