A man who saw a car crashing into a brick wall is being urged by police to contact them as he may be a “vital witness”.

Police are appealing to a man who they believe saw a red Ford KA smash into a brick wall at the end of a driveway in Lower Luton Road, Harpenden, at the junction with Cherry Trees Lane on Monday (9) at about 3.20am.

A 30 year old man from the town and a 23 year old woman from Hoddesdon were arrested for suspected drink driving and have been released on bail.

The man had left the scene before the police were able to take his details.
