THE clock is ticking for Herts parents to apply to secondary schools places for their children to start in September 2010.
Applications for secondary school placements are under way and required to be completed before the final deadline on October 23.
Richard Thake, county executive member for education and skills, said: "Moving on to secondary school is a very important step in a child's life and it is vital that parents and carers get the application forms in on time."
Parents are being encouraged to use the internet to complete the registration this year after 88 per cent of applications in 2008 were made online.
"Parents can no longer return their application forms to their child's current primary school," Cllr Thake said.
Notification letters will be posted out first class on March 1 next year and parents who applied online will be able to view their offer from March 2. They will have until March 16 to accept the place and up to March 22 to lodge any appeals.
