A St Albans mum who accused Herts County Council of "failing" families has been issued a response.

Donna Sharp is raising money for a centre for disabled children after several cuts to council-run services.

A Herts County Council spokesperson responded: “We are sorry Ms Sharp feels the council is not doing enough for her and her son.

“We certainly think we can work together with them to learn from their ideas and improve the experience of parent carers.

“We already work closely with the Herts Parents Carers forum to quality assure services, and design and develop future ones.

“We also hold regular events to discuss local education, health and care services to which parents and carers are invited.

“The council has a range of short breaks for disabled young people to spend time socialising and having fun, while giving their families a break.”
