HERTS Advertiser editor Matt Adams is celebrating his new job by jumping out of an aeroplane at 10,000ft to raise money for Grove House next month.

He is taking part in the summer skydive event which is being held on Sunday, July 19, at Brackley airfield in Northants.

The tandem freefall skydive is becoming a popular fundraising event for Grove House attracting an ever-increasing numbers of enthusiastic entrants keen to support Grove House and experience the thrill of a parachute jump.

Matt explained: "Having only recently become editor of the Herts Advertiser, I wanted to do something to show my commitment to the newspaper and the local community.

"After being invited to see the incredible work that Grove House hospice does on a daily basis, it didn't take much for me to agree to sign up for their charity skydive."

He added: "Throwing myself out of a plane is nothing compared to the bravery and determination displayed by the patients of Grove House and I hope this small gesture will go a long way to helping improve their quality of life."

Also signed up for the jump is Grove House's community fundraiser Liz Hizli.

She said: "I've watched so many other people take the plunge. I'm terrified of heights but this year I am determined to join the team and raise even more money for the hospice."

James Warrilow, general manager of the Fox Bar and Restaurant in Harpenden, is joining the team for the first time this year.

He commented: "Here at the Fox we're always keen to support local causes and Grove House is very special to us. I'm hoping to raise a significant amount of money to help the hospice continue its valuable work."
