Police are warning drivers that there is likely to be heavy congestion in Harpenden next week due to the Classics on the Common Event.

The annual Classics on the Common event is next Wednesday, July 26.

Harpenden neighbourhood sergeant Chris Thomas said: “Please allow extra time for your journey if you are travelling through Harpenden on Wednesday as there will be a lot of extra traffic.

“It is the largest mid-week classic car convention, so if you do not need to be in Harpenden, it’s best to avoid the area between 11am and 8pm.”

Some cars will start arriving from 11am. The event is from 2pm to 8pm and is free to members of the public, but no more classic cars are allowed to be displayed this year.
