A FIRE which tore through bales of hay and straw on a farm in St Albans is being investigated by police as arson.
The blaze, which began on Saturday night at around 10.30pm, came close to residential properties on Highfield Lane.
Firefighters battled to bring the fire under control through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. They returned later on Sunday to ensure that the fire was in no danger of re-igniting.
Police say they are now appealing for anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
