A patch full of pumpkins provided plenty of fun at Willows Farm over the weekend as people were invited to pick their own for free.
One man even decided to propose to his girlfriend, who said yes, at the London Colney attraction’s annual pumpkin festival which began on Saturday, October 25, and continues until Sunday, November 2.
Chynna-Jade Shaw and Ciaron Barratt, both 22, made their way to the pumpkin patch on Saturday afternoon along with Chynna’s four-year-old son Brodie, and Ciaron surprised his bride-to-be with some pumpkins he had specially asked Willows to carve with the words ‘will you marry me?’
Through the week children can carve a creative design into their chosen pumpkins at the Willows’ Carving Cavern, while those too young to do so can try a fun activity in the Pumpkin Arts and Craft area. Each day throughout the whole week the most imaginative pumpkin designs will win a prize.
Farmer Andrew Wolfe said: “We’ve been tending to our pumpkins all summer, and it’s now bursting with fully-grown pumpkins! Visitors at Willows will be spoilt for choice.”
