St Albans estate agents Collinson Hall are playing a colourful part in the first-ever Colour Blast fun run in aid of Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

Colour Blast takes place at 10.30am on Sunday August 23 and is hosted by Everyone Active at Westminster Lodge in St Albans. Participants are showered with a different coloured powder at several intervals along the course, turning them into a running rainbow. The event is open to all ages, but under 18s must have parental consent and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Collinson Hall is sponsoring one of the colour stations along the 5km and 1.5km routes, and participants passing through this part of the course will be blasted with blue powder paint to add to their rainbow-hued clothes, hair and faces!

Philippa Dowson of Collinson Hall explained: “We picked blue because it’s our company colour. Being involved with Colour Blast is a fun way to support a great cause. Rennie Grove makes a huge difference to local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness and we’re delighted to help in whatever way we can.”

Westminster Lodge assistant manager James Tovey said: “We’re really excited to be hosting this event and we’re all looking forward to seeing everyone coming across the finish line covered in colour.”

Rennie Grove fundraising and marketing director Gillian Barnett explained: “All the powder is non-toxic, corn starch based and perfectly safe, making Colour Blast the ideal event for all the family to enjoy. It isn’t a timed race but a fun, exhilarating and amazingly colourful way to raise funds. For first-timers undertaking a running challenge – what better way to distract yourself than having multi-coloured powder paint sprinkled liberally over you? Why not wear white to maximise the impact of all those colours as you progress around the route?”

Gillian added: “Registration is £20 per adult, £10 per child and we’re also offering a £50 family rate with entry free to under 5s. Included in your registration fee are your special Colour Blast sunglasses and a medal when you cross the finishing line.

“Sponsorship from companies like Collinson Hall means that more money goes directly to helping local patients and so we’re immensely grateful to them for their support.

“Now we’re asking all participants to boost the amount that will fund patient care by getting sponsored to take part in this exciting event. Just £20 could fund an hour of specialist care in a patient’s home or in our Day Hospice at Grove House.”
