A kind-hearted tourist has won a national award for her work organising travel holidays for local people.
Harpenden’s Marian Durbidge was presented with the Group Travel Organiser of the Year Award by Group Leisure and Travel for running the Herts Theatre Club and the Go Together Travel Club for 24 years.
The groups go to stately homes, gardens, museums, zoos, sports matches and art galleries.
Members have also had the opportunity to explore the length and breadth of Britain, including Yorkshire and Northumbria, and jet set around the world to places like Switzerland and Sardinia.
Marian’s prize included £2,000 to spend on a holiday of her choice: “The most rewarding part of this type of work is the pleasure I get from helping my members to enjoy themselves, to make friends and relax in the company of others.”
