A Wheathampstead teenager has raised an impressive £750 for Macmillan Cancer Support through her love of baking.
Amelie Hayes, 14, a student at Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden, organised three separate fundraising events to sell her homemade cakes for the charity.
The first was for the 3rd Wheathampstead Brownies, where Amelie is a young leader, and she also held sales at home and school.
This is the third year running that Amelie has raised money for Macmillan’s coffee morning, but this year’s total has beaten the last two years put together.
Amelie said: “I love to bake so it is an easy and fun way for me to fundraise and I would like to help people suffering with cancer.
“I am extremely proud of how much money we have all raised together. I am very grateful for everyone’s donations. I can’t believe how much money we have managed to raise this year.”
