A ROCKING concert organised by sixth-formers helped a secondary school in Harpenden raise over 6,500 for the Haiti appeal.

Roundwood Park School launched into a Haiti Appeal Week just days after the earthquake struck the island last month, dedicating themselves to raising as much money as possible with sponsored events, a raffle and a music concert.

The sixth formers were responsible for organising the Roundwood Rocks concert on February 5, when students of all ages performed songs and dance routines in front of their peers, who each paid 50p for the privilege.

Deputy head teacher at the school Glen Pettengell said: "This money will make a huge difference to the men, women and children of Haiti, who are still trying to rebuild their lives.
