POLICE are warning motorists to avoid a main Harpenden road today ahead of a popular classic car event.
Hundreds of cars are expected to descend on Classics on the Common and pass through the A1081 St Albans Road area.
Leyton Road will be closed for the duration of the event, which opens at 2pm and runs until 10pm tonight.
Sgt Mark Andrews said: “We are asking motorists who are not attending the event to avoid the area if possible because there is expected to be heavy traffic and delays.
“Police will also be in attendance at the event in a community engagement capacity however anti-social vehicle use will not be tolerated and offenders will be dealt with firmly.”
