Concept designs have been unveiled for a new £18 million arts and leisure centre in Harpenden, and residents are invited to give their views.
St Albans district council plans to transform Harpenden swimming pool in Rothamsted Park into a leisure centre for a variety of activities and sports. It also hopes to turn the adjacent sports centre into an arts and culture facility.
However, the proposal has angered some residents who are concerned the development will exacerbate traffic congestion in the town centre.
The scheme moots a new deck being built on the Amenbury Lane car park, and some residents have expressed concern that this will bring more traffic to the town centre.
The concept designs will be presented at two public meetings, on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16, at Park Hall in Leyton Road from 6.30-9pm.
People can also give their views on the concept design by completing an online questionnaire at http://www.stalbans.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/facility_developments or emailing harpendenleisureandculture@stalbans.gov.uk
