Former Paralympic footballer, David Clarke, will start the runners taking part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Harpenden next Sunday, March 20.

David, who is currently president of the St Albans and District Chamber of Commerce, had a career spanning 17 years from 1995 to 2012 for the England Great Britain blind football team.

He will join local people who will be running one, three and six miles in and around Rothamsted Park in aid of the charity which aims to transform the lives of people living in the UK and abroad.

The event starts close to the skateboard park at 10am and while the one mile course will remain within Rothamsted Park, the three and six mile routes will take in the surrounding countryside including The Nickey Line before finishing where it started.

Tom Doe from Camp Green, organisers of the event, said: “We are delighted that so many people have already signed up but we want even more people in Harpenden to take part and make it the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile yet. So let’s show the rest of the country what we can do and raise as much money as we possibly can for this incredible cause.”
