CHOPSTICKS and chow mein were on the menu for a nursery in Harpenden when it celebrated Chinese New Year.

Busy Bees nursery on Leyton Road enjoyed a Chinese New Year party last week when, dressed head-to-toe in Chinese attire, all the children released red balloons in the garden before tucking into an oriental banquet.

Leisure manager at the nursery Ally Archer said that everyone enjoyed the balloon release: "Each child had a red balloon and we attached a tag to every single one, saying the child's name and giving the address of Busy Bees. The first balloon sent back to the nursery wins a prize!"

She added: "We all had a fantastic celebration and the parents mucked in too, making some brilliant Chinese new year costumes for the children. Everyone got to take their chopsticks home too.
