Harpenden MP Bim Afolami met with the county council’s highways team to look at how potholes are being tackled in the town.
Mr Afolami visited a road resurfacing scheme in Salisbury Avenue, Harpenden, along with cllr Ralph Sangster, the county council’s executive member for highways.
Cllr Sangster highlighted issues surrounding funding and the need to resurface roads instead of temporary repairs, which are less cost effective and likely to require further repair.
The road resurfacing is one of more than 1,000 maintenance and improvement schemes taking place over Hertfordshire this year, and the county council is investing £29m over four years to improve the unclassified road network, which includes residential and country roads.
Mr Afolami said: “We know from our residents that road maintenance issues remain a key priority. Works such as these are vital if we want to keep the county moving.”
