A MOTORCYCLIST died this morning (Monday) nearly two weeks after sustaining serious injuries in an accident along the Harpenden Road.
Derek Hayward, aged 38, from Harpenden, was in collision with a car waiting to turn right onto Green Lane on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 23.
Mr Hayward was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge after the helicopter landed in the grounds of the nearby St Albans Girls School.
He remained in a critical condition up until his death early this morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at 4.40pm, and anyone with information should contact 0800 33 00 222.
