THOUSANDS of pounds were raised as a result of a charity football match in memory of two Harpenden Colts stalwarts who died of cancer.

The match at Harpenden Town FC saw Colts Old Boys first and reserve teams take on Skew Bridge in memory of Brian Collins and Brian Arnsby.

As well as the main match, there was a round robin tournament with Luton Wanderers which helped raise �1,675 on the day a sum made up to �3,319 with online donations.

The day was to raise money for Keech Cottage hospice, which supported Brian Collins and his family, and Grove House hospice which looked after Brian Arnsby and his relatives.
