A MAN suspected of failing to pay at least 160,000 income tax was arrested this morning by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
The 58-year-old from Harpenden has now been bailed until October.
Bob Gaiger, HMRC spokesperson, said: “We take attempts of tax fraud seriously and our criminal investigators will pursue anyone involved in this type of activity. Tax fraud is not a victimless crime; it takes money away from public services and lines the pockets of criminal gangs.
“Anyone with information about individuals or businesses that may be evading their tax, are urged to contact the Tax Evasion hotline by calling 0800 788 887 or via the website www.hmrc.gov.uk/tax-evasion”
