A fundraising branch of a cancer charity have stressed the importance of contributions from local businesses following a successful charity dinner recently.

Hertfordshire Law Society, a Harpenden based professional body for solicitors, hosted a charity dinner at Hatfield House, raising more than £1,000 for the Macmillan Cancer Support Harpenden Fundraising Group.

The society introduced a charity prize draw to their annual event and chose to support the Harpenden fundraising branch of the charity, which supports people diagnosed with cancer as well as their family and friends.

Sue Hobley, chairman of the fundraising group, said: “The Harpenden and district group enjoy putting on a range of fundraising events throughout the year - family camping weekends, film nights, curry evenings, fashion shows - but Macmillan needs and welcomes additional support from local businesses to help raise much needed funds for them to support more people living with cancer, and their families.”
