HARPENDEN: It was a dream come true for a local schoolgirl at the weekend as she walked out onto the Wembley pitch as a mascot during the FA Cup semi-final.
Chelsea fan Serena Sale, aged eight, was randomly selected by Club Wembley to be one of the mascots for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham.
The Wood End School pupil got to sit in the managers’ dugout before walking out alongside striker Didier Drogba just before kick off.
The youngster, whose favourite player is Frank Lampard, said: “I was really happy and excited when I got picked and it was really exciting to walk out onto the pitch; I want to do it again!”
After her mascot duties were over, Serena watched the match with her dad and older brother Jack and saw her team triumph 5-1. She was also given a goodie bag and a Chelsea kit to take home as a souvenir.
Serena’s proud mum Claire said: “She was over the moon when she found out she had been picked. We are all really proud of her.”
