Harpenden gears up for 7s rugby festival

RUGBY players at all levels are putting down the pints and getting into training for the annual 7s festival in Harpenden next Sunday, August 30. Harpenden Rugby Club in Redbourn Lane is hosting the 44th national Pub 7s Rugby Festival between 11am and 6.

RUGBY players at all levels are putting down the pints and getting into training for the annual 7s festival in Harpenden next Sunday, August 30.

Harpenden Rugby Club in Redbourn Lane is hosting the 44th national "Pub" 7s Rugby Festival between 11am and 6.30pm.

It will feature the Elite competition with 16 sides competing in four leagues of four for £2,000 prize money and the Barrel and Plate competition which is for clubs and pubs near the ground and further afield.

Thirty two sides will be playing - each guaranteed two matches 2 - and a barrel of beer awaits the winning side in both the Barrel and Plate categories.

As well as the competitions, there will be trade stands, a food village and bands playing.
