Eighty guests took part in the silent auction and raffle at the evening where award-winning photographer and game-park guide Jaco Powell gave a one-hour presentation on South African wildlife.

Among the guests was the Mayor of Harpenden, Counsellor Rosemary Farmer, who praised both the evening and Mr Powell: "This was a very enjoyable taste of South Africa - food, wine, photos and an excellent guest speaker.
