HARPENDEN-based materials handling specialist Stanley Handling Ltd is supplying equipment to leading missile systems company MBDA for use in loading Seawolf missiles onto the Royal Navy's Type 23 frigates.
The five canister rotation units, which are built to a very high defence specification, are based upon a substantially modified ROBUR pedestrian-operated fork lift truck. Able to load the missiles in their sealed, self contained and ready to fire launch canisters much more quickly and safely than before, they are expected to significantly reduce ammunition re-supply times for Britain's frigates.
Stanley Handling's expertise in the design of highly specialised handling solutions and its readiness to work with clients on complex and demanding projects make this a realistic prospect.
