Size proved no obstacle for a little Brownie who grew an award-winning sunflower measuring more than 11 feet.
Alex Batchelor, of 1st Harpenden Brownies, won the competition for the tallest sunflower held as part of Harpenden in Bloom 2015, with a specimen verified by Harpenden Town Council at reaching a staggering 3.42m (11ft 3ins).
She was presented with a certificate and medal for her achievement by Town Mayor Brian Ellis at a special ceremony held at Park Hall last week.
Meanwhile Christina Moss won the best front garden award in the same competition, the same day her husband Stephen picked up a gold award in the South Harpenden Allotment Society competition.
