Sian Hughes-Cooke made the dress free of charge for Kylie Yildiz, 29, from Borehamwood, after Kylie’s mother’s ovarian cancer returned three and a half years after she first contracted the disease.

Sian, who owns Shimmering Ivory bespoke bridal couture on Derwent Road, said: “I just felt like I wanted to give something back. “We cannot cure cancer, but we can design amazing dresses.”

She first met Kylie when she worked as a model at a fashion show for Sian three years ago.

In November, Sian heard about Kylie’s mother’s cancer returning via Facebook and contacted her to say she would make her wedding dress as a gift.

Sian said: “She said she was really keen to use her mother’s wedding dress. So when she came for her final fitting the other day, she was in tears and it made me feel really happy that I am able to make someone’s day.

“This is her dream dress and the fact it’s her mum’s dress is really personal to her. I hope giving joy to someone will encourage other people to do so as well.”

Kylie said: “Sian sent me a lovely, sweet message and I literally just cried for about two hours as I was so overwhelmed.

She said the wedding was “the most beautiful day ever”, adding: “Everyone said it was the wedding of the year!

“I felt like a princess as it was my dream wedding.”

There was a Turkish band and a surprise appearance from DJ Luck and MC Neat at the wedding, which was held at Greenwoods Hotel and Spa in Chelmsford, Essex.

Kylie gave a “massive thank you” to Sian for designing the dress, adding: “She has literally blown me away and I am so grateful.

“Words cannot describe how much I want to thank her.”

Kylie and her husband, Batu, are taking her to The Dorchester to express what words cannot.

The dress would normally have cost around £4,000 to make, but Sian wanted to use the opportunity to raise a similar sum for ovarian cancer research.
