Harpenden barber’s great leap for charity
Customers of a men’s hairdressers have dug deep into their pockets to sponsor a resident barber’s skydive.
The barber, Vincenzo Picanza, 62, (pictured) has been working at Richards Barber Shop in Harpenden for 26 years and has built up quite a client base.
Vincenzo’s customers have together sponsored him more than £3,000 for a charity skydive, with all proceeds going towards Keech Hospice Care.
Donations ranged from a generous £5 to a hefty £260. Vincenzo said: “My partner passed away over two years ago and I wanted to do something in her memory, she always supported Keech. The customers were so generous.
It is the third charity skydive undertaken by the 62 year old who has skydived since 2012.
This year’s skydive took place late last month and saw Vincenzo plunging 14,500ft. He added: “It was absolutely brilliant, if I had the chance I would jump every day. I have no fear any more.”
All the money was collected in store and donated to Keech, who provide specialist palliative care for adults and children diagnosed with a life-limiting or terminal illness.
