YOBS left a trail of destruction along a residential street on Halloween night.

Police recorded several reports of criminal damage along Brampton Road, St Albans, on the evening of Sunday, October 31, and into the early hours of the following morning.

Among the damage inflicted were three broken wing mirrors, a smashed car window, a dent made to the front of a vehicle and a recycling bin emptied into the front garden of a property.

A resident who contacted the Herts Advertiser but wished to remain anonymous said at least one member of the group was carrying a baseball bat and that, in addition to the reports police recorded, there were items removed from skips and thrown at houses as well as broken glass strewn over the pavement.

Pc Neil Jeffery said: “The area has been affected by similar incidents in the past which is totally unacceptable. We are working to prevent future incidents and have spoken with residents to address the issue and provide advice about reporting incidents of anti-social behaviour.

“We’ve also been working with St Albans district council to find a long term solution to prevent further incidents from occurring.”

In the meantime, Pc Jeffery urged anyone with information about the recent spate of incidents to contact him via the non-emergency number 0845 3300222.
