A half naked man was arrested on suspicion of theft in St Albans city centre Wednesday evening.
Police were called to the Maltings shopping centre by security staff reporting there had been a theft at around 5pm.
Two men believed to be responsible for the theft were seen to get into a Mercedes and leave the area. They were later stopped by officers in Chequer Street.
A 43 year old man from Hemel Hempstead was arrested in Market Place on suspicion of theft, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving while uninsured and driving while disqualified.
A 35 year old, also from Hemel Hempstead, was later arrested at an address in Hemel on suspicion of theft.
Both arrested men remain in police custody.
