A MULTI-TALENTED teenager from St Albans has made his break on Britain's newest dance show.

Kane Ricca, aged 16, wowed the judges of new Sky One show Got To Dance - the biggest national dance competition ever to hit UK screens - when he first auditioned for the programme last summer.

Kane, who lives in Park Street, strutted his stuff in front of the three judges - Ashley Banjo from dance group Diversity, Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls and West End star Adam Garcia - and thanks to his quirky tap dance routine, he is now through to the final 18 of the show.

Kane, who went to the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts, said that it had been an exciting journey: "It seems an age since I first got involved with Got To Dance but it wasn't until earlier this month that my very first audition was on TV. I've loved every minute of it and I can't reveal much at the moment - only that things are looking good."

He added: "I haven't met presenter of the show Davina McCall yet, but I have had great fun with all the judges. Adam Garcia is my favourite because he too is a tap dancer and, because he's so relaxed, he really captures the spirit of the show."

But Kane, who first took up tap dancing at the Marguerita Hoare School of Dancing in St Albans, said that singing was his favourite pastime: "Although I love being noisy with tap dancing, I am above all a song writer. I'm a regular John Mayers-cum-Justin Timberlake and I'm really looking forward to releasing my debut self-titled album next year."

Kane, who has won 47 medals and 17 trophies for his dancing, is also a resident teacher and choreographer at Pineapple Dance Studios in London and is currently filming at an old army barracks in Hendon for a new Nickelodeon Kids TV programme.

He said: "It's just one of a long line of projects for me! The show is kind of like Twilight but for kids and I play the main werewolf. It's exhausting stuff because I'm filming every weekday until April but I'm looking forward to seeing it on TV next January."

Got To Dance is currently showing on Sky 1 every Sunday at 6pm. To find out more about Kane, visit his website at www.kanericca.com
