UKIP’s 2015 election candidate for St Albans has revealed he will not be standing in June.
Chris Wright, who won 4,000 votes in the last General Election, says he is too busy with other projects.
But he has high hopes for the party, saying: “I hope UKIP do well and they can continue to keep the Brexit fires burning.
“I think this is essential for the country, and it will be interesting to see how Theresa May and her party campaign.”
The Prime Minister announced this morning there will be a snap General Election on Thursday, June 8.
Mr Wright, a former lieutenant colonel, was selected to fight in 2015 after only having been in the party for two years.
“It is going to be very interesting to see how this country responds to a Brexit-style election, rather than a referendum.”
