St Albans Labour Party have said they “relish” the chance to oust incumbent MP Anne Main, and have already been canvassing for the forthcoming General Election.
Theresa May yesterday announced a snap election, to be held on Thursday, June 8.
Leader Cllr Roma Mills said: “St Albans Labour Party welcomes the chance to oust an MP who has let down St Albans, and a government who has let down the country by pursuing an approach to Brexit that will damage St Albans and the country, that have failed to address a crisis in our local NHS and care services, and a growing crisis in school funding.”
She said the party will select its candidate for the June election in the coming days.
The party came second in the last General Election, winning 12,660 votes, 23 per cent of all votes cast.
They previously held the seat between 1997 and 2005.
