A peloton of cyclists are pedalling from Devon to Harpenden this week to raise money for cancer charities.
Twenty people were due to set off on a 268 mile ride from Hope Cove yesterday. They will be joined by a further 10 people for the final day on Saturday and then five or six children will join them for the last few miles to Harpenden Cricket Club.
Organiser Kevin Moxham said before the ride: “I am looking forward to it. Everyone was been training for it. We have already raised £7,000 and we are aiming to raise £20,000 for charity. It’s all looking good.”
Kevin decided to put together the challenge in tribute to his dad, Anthony, who was treasurer of the town’s hockey club for 20 years before dying of cancer.
It is expected 40 people will wheel onto Harpenden Common for a party and a raffle.
